Joseph is the author of Blood Beneath My Feet: The Journey of a Southern Death Investigator, which was named Georgia Author of the Year in 2013 and is currently in development as a television series. He has also appeared in television productions including Oxygen’s Murdered and Missing in Montana and The Piketon Massacre, based on his podcast.

Joseph Scott Morgan is a nationally recognized forensic science expert, veteran death investigator, author, educator, and host of the true crime and forensic science podcast Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan.
As the Distinguished Scholar of Applied Forensics at Jacksonville State University in Alabama, Joseph brings decades of experience in death investigation and forensic science to the cases he examines. He holds a Master of Forensic Sciences degree and is a former board-certified fellow of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.
Joseph began his career in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he became one of the youngest coroner investigators in the United States. He later served as a Senior Investigator with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office in Atlanta, Georgia, where he helped develop and establish national training guidelines for medicolegal death investigators—work that ultimately contributed to the formation of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.
His expertise has taken him far beyond the death scene. Joseph has become a trusted forensic voice in high-profile criminal investigations, bringing scientific analysis to crime scenes, autopsies, physical evidence, and the circumstances surrounding death. Since November 2022, he has also devoted significant attention to examining the murders of University of Idaho students Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves from a forensic perspective.
